• The Goddess of Salvation

She is the Goddess of Life: mother and creator,
    the savior, enemy of death.
She is the Goddess of Life: mother and creator, the savior, enemy of death.

Diche, the Goddess of Life, refused to accept that Orbis, God of Nature, could die.
And yet Orbis fell into the eternal abyss leaving Diche behind.

Though Diche was the only being within Aethra’s universe capable of creating life,
even she did not have the power to resurrect the dead.

  • The Resurrection of Orbis

With a blink of Diche’s eye, Orbis’s body became the
    foundation of a new world.
His blood flowed into the land and created the
    seas and the rivers.

“A wish that nothing need die.”

Diche refused to give up, and created a new world upon Orbis's fallen body.
It was a blessed world surging with the energy of life.
The Goddess looked upon what she had created, and she was pleased.
And her new world, imbued with life, flourished.

“May this world be free of death for all eternity.”

  • A Perversion of Providence

"Life is a star that shines brightest in the darkness of death.
Diche, why do you turn a blind eye to providence?"

Ilryos, God of the Sun and brother to Diche and Orbis,
could not understand why Diche would not let Orbis go.
The universe of Aethra was at war, and he
required the power of life that Diche alone possessed.

Alongside the Goddess of the Moon, he spent day and night
attempting to persuade Diche to rejoin the war, but she refused to abandon her new world.

  • The Rage of Ilryos

“Your irresponsibility, your refusal to let go,
will be your end and the end of all creation.”
“Your irresponsibility, your refusal to let go, will be your end and the end of all creation.”

Ilryos raged. He plotted to force his sister to rejoin the war.
He sent the Archdemon Shahar to destroy the land of Orbis.

Shahar’s advent upon the land of Orbis brought death
to all things and doomed the world to destruction.
The earth burned red like the rage of the sun god, and the life that the Goddess
had nurtured was burnt to ashes.

  • The Boy Heir

Nevertheless, Diche refused to leave the land of Orbis,
and bestowed upon it the Covenant to safeguard all its life.

Diche created the Heir of the Covenant and the Guardians to protect the
world from Ilryos and his Demon Lords.

  • The Fall of the Archdemon

“I, Ras Elclare, Heir to the Goddess’s will,
will protect all the life of the world!”
“I, Ras Elclare, heir to the will of the Goddess, will protect all the life of the world!”

The Heir of the Covenant led the resistance against the Archdemon.
The Guardians joined him and they chose their own Heirs to
whom they granted the strength to defend the world.

In order to save the world from eternal death and
    destruction, they fought desperately.

After an arduous battle, the Heir of the Covenant
defeated the Archdemon. The people rejoiced,
believing that eternal happiness was now before them.

  • The Calamity Returns

    “I will finish this, Diche.”
“I will save them from you and your doom.”
    Diche chose resistance over submission.

As knowledge of the Archdemon Shahar faded into legend,
    a new Archdemon, Bartukal, appeared.
Ilryos had not given up on the Celestial War,
and he had not given up on Diche.

After repeated incursions by the Archdemon,
the Heir of the Covenant was finally defeated and the world collapsed.
Ilryos believed Diche would finally realize
the futility of her resistance and return.

    But she did not.

  • A World Reborn

What did the Goddess do, when the stars fell and the world collapsed?
She embraced the body of Orbis, and whispered in his ear...
    “Now, be eternal once again.”

Diche poured all of her strength into the restoration of the world. The ravaged land and
the countless dead were returned to life.
No memory of what the Archdemon had done remained.
In this restored world, peace once again reigned.

However, having already spent so much of her strength creating the land of Orbis,
Diche’s restoration was imperfect. On the restored world, there existed small “distortions.”

Under the strain of countless more wars and restorations these distortions grew and
     created a crack between dimensions.
And with each restoration, more and more lives were not restored and instead lost forever.
In time, these distortions even began to affect the universe of Aethra.

  • The Eternal War

The victor has yet to be decided.
Only those who fight can envision hope.

In this endless cycle of war, there were many victories, and many losses.
Yet the people believed in the Goddess's Covenant and,
though surrounded by death and despair, never abandoned hope.

When the Covenant was victorious, Ilryos would send a new Archdemon.
When the Covenant was defeated, Diche would recreate the world and the
    Covenant.
For hundreds of thousands of years this was repeated...
